FAQ

I've never used a steam shower before, what's the best way to do it?
- If you've never used a steam shower before then you are in for quite the treat! Using a steam shower is very similar to a sauna so if you are familiar there then you should practice a similar regimen. The best way to do it is to jump in for 10-20 minutes, cool off in cold water and then repeat for another 10-20 minutes. Cooling off is essential between sessions because it will prevent your circulation from overworking itself.

Okay, what's the difference between a whirlpool and a steam shower?
- While both provide great health benefits, both a whirlpool and a steam shower have different uses. A whirlpool is used best to cure aches and pains and is typically enjoyed at 80 degrees or thereabouts, with a humidity level of about 20 percent. A steam shower on the other hand works better at getting any excess toxins out of the body and is usually done at as high of humidity as possible.

What are the benefits of purchasing a modular steam shower?
- When you're getting ready to purchase a steam shower you will find two basic options, modular and self-built. Most people lean toward modular steam showers (which are pre-built) because they take only a fraction of the time to install. Modular steam showers are also quite a bit cheaper then custom built showers because you are basically buying a pre-designed model, not an individually designed shower.

Okay, I'd like to buy a steam shower but how much is it going to cost me?
- Most people are happily surprised to find out that steam showers aren't as expensive as they'd first thought. If you are making plans to purchase a modular steam shower then you can plan on spending in the vicinity of $1500 to $5000. Custom steam showers are a bit more then modular showers, which is something to keep in mind when you're shopping around.

How hard is it to clean a steam shower?
- Steam showers are typically pretty easy to clean, especially if you have one that is easily accessible. The toughest thing about cleaning a steam shower is generally getting the grout clean. You can clean the room pretty quickly in the same way you would your 'normal' shower and since the room gets moist so quickly you can get rid of any dirt and grime with just a quick sweep of a sponge.

If I want to make my current shower into a steam shower is there anything that I should be aware of?
- Turning your current shower into a steam shower really isn't that difficult. It's quite a bit cheaper than designing an entire separate room and it can often be more convenient. One thing you will want to keep in mind however is making sure that the door is fully enclosed. If you don't have a fully enclosed shower door then steam will escape easily, lessening the effects of the shower.

What is a whirlpool?
- Imagine a super powered bathtub, or a shower on steroids. That's what a whirlpool looks like! Whirlpools are one of the most effective ways a person can achieve a great feeling body because they work the muscles deep in the tissues in order to massage and heal them. Whirlpools also offer a helping hand in many other health related ways - see our health benefits page for more information.

When can I not use my whirlpool?
- While whirlpools are known to be one of the healthiest, most enjoyable ways to treat the body it shouldn't be used in several circumstances. For instance, pregnant women, those with high blood pressure and elderly who aren't in good, healthy condition should not use a whirlpool. Whirlpools are a great way to treat the body's ailments but be sure to consult a doctor if you have any question to whether you should use one or not.

I'm getting ready to purchase a whirlpool but wouldn't it be cheaper to just convert my bathtub into one?
- A lot of people tend to look at their existing bathtubs and think they would make excellent whirlpool locations but…by doing this it will often cost more and be more hassle then just purchasing a whirlpool by itself. The reason is that many bathtubs aren't set up for the power usage and space that a whirlpool demands. Check with a plumber and electrician before you make plans to see just how difficult it may be.

Okay, I like the idea of a whirlpool but isn't it going to shoot my electricity bill through the roof?
- While sure, a whirlpool will make your electricity bill climb a bit it isn't nearly to the extent that many people think. In fact, a whirlpool will only take around a quarter per hour to run! Don't get scared away from a whirlpool because of electricity costs because you probably won't notice them much.

Just why should I purchase a whirlpool system?
- If you have the perfect body with no injuries and no problems then sure, you probably don't need to purchase a whirlpool. But if you're like most of us then you will benefit from the various features a whirlpool offers. Get rid of pain, stress and breathing ailments just from using the whirlpool everyday.

How loud is a whirlpool, will it keep my neighbors up at night?
- Whirlpools are actually much quieter then most people first assume. While you have control over the noise level to some extent (by the different speeds of the jets) even the loudest level isn't all that loud. To answer the question, it won't keep your neighbors up, no matter how good their hearing is!

Can I choose the size and look of my whirlpool or do I just get a generic one?
- Nowadays people love choices and distinction and when it comes to whirlpool choices we believe that you should get just that. When you purchase a whirlpool you will be put in charge of picking out the color, the size and the material used for your whirlpool. Our whirlpools come in a variety of sizes and shapes so picking the right one for you will probably be your toughest choice!

What if I just want a simple whirlpool, can I have that?
- While most people want a whirlpool with more bells and whistles than Santa Claus himself you can surely get a basic, featureless whirlpool if you'd like. Simple is cheaper for sure and if price is a concern it's probably your best bet to a great whirlpool in your price range. Those who want a bit more can go with whirlpools with towel warming devices, television/ radio outlets and remote control access. The beauty is it's up to you!

Does it make more sense for me to just use a whirlpool at the spa or to purchase my own?
- Well this will depend on how much you plan to use your whirlpool. If you feel that you will only use it once in a great while it may not be the right choice to purchase one but if you want to realize the therapeutic benefits on a regular basis there's nothing that will be a personally owned whirlpool. Having this 'treatment center' in your backyard is the most convenient way to get real life results.

How often should I clean my whirlpool bath?
- Whirlpools should be cleaned on a regular basis, every week or two at least. Basically all you have to do is clean the jets and surface area of the whirlpool in a similar way to cleaning a standard bathtub.

What is a steam shower?
- A steam shower is a fully enclosed shower that provides the full benefits of a steam room in a shower setting. Steam showers are said to provide full health benefits and while they are typically seen in health clubs and YMCAs they are now becoming a pretty popular home addition.

Just what health benefits can be reaped from using a steam shower?
- Steam showers offer many of the same benefits of whirlpools. Some of the reasons people use them include: skin rejuvenation, a cure for aches and pains, a way to remove toxins from the body, a way to lose weight through losing unneeded water. Many home owners who use steam showers on a regular basis swear by the revitalized feeling that they seem to bring. Check out our health benefits page for more information on this topic.

Which is recommended, a steam shower with or without a seat?
- Steam showers are made in two basic ways, with or without a seat. It is recommended that you purchase a shower with a seat because for just a little bit more in price you can enjoy a steamy shower while sitting or standing. Steam showers are designed to be one of the most relaxing experiences you can partake in and what better way to do that then while sitting down?

How about an exhaust fan- do I need one?
- Exhaust fans are not needed if you own a steam shower because once you are done the steam just automatically condenses down the drain. Exhaust fans really don't provide any extra benefit to your steam shower and will most likely just become a nuisance.
